Jim Thorpe Borough Council will attempt to obtain funds for a recreation area and an industrial site in the community.
This was decided at last night’s year-end meeting of the council. The council members said they will seek funds from Project 70 for the purchase of land to provide a recreation area in the Broadway vicinity.
There are no established play lots in the Broadway area, which extends from the courthouse to the Lentz Trail.
The council also passed a resolution applying for a federal grant from Open Space funds for the creation of an industrial site at the extreme end of Broadway, in the vicinity of property owned by the Jim Thorpe Municipal Authority.
