December 24, 2011 — Northwestern’s Haley Yost is named the Times News Girls Cross Country Athlete of the Year. After helping her team finish off a 26-0 regular season, Yost takes second place at the Colonial League championships in a time of 19:53.5. The sophomore follows that up by finishing fifth at district and earning a berth to states. Her showing at districts also helps the Tigers finish second in the team standings.
