December 23, 1991 — Pleasant Valley crowns three champions to help clinch the team title at the 20th annual Jim Thorpe Christmas Wrestling Tournament. The Bears’ Kevin Nagle gains the gold at 189 pounds with a pin at the 3:31 mark. PV’s Tim Everett registers a technical fall to earn the 145-pound crown, while Derrick Barkalow’s decision at 135 gives him a title. Palmerton finishes the tourney with four champs, as John Wilk (112), Eric Stroup (125), Dave Christman (152) and Rich Hertzog (160) all capture gold medals. Thorpe’s Jeff Reese (175) and Bob Szilagyi (140) win their weight classes, as do Panther Valley’s Nino Logan (119) and Vinnie Sweeney (heavyweight).
