Tax collector

Catherine Papesh, Coaldale tax collector, has announced the tax office hours for the rest of the year.

The tax office will close at noon on Friday and remain closed on Dec. 24, 25 and 26 in observance of the Christmas holiday. It will be open for regular business hours from 10 a.m. to noon and 1 to 4 p.m. on Dec. 27; 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Dec. 30 and 1 to 5 p.m. on Dec. 31. It will be closed on Jan. 1.

As stated on borough tax bills, only forms of payment accepted from today until the end of the year will be cash, money orders and certified bank checks. No personal checks will be accepted.

In addition, a reminder that county/municipal and school taxes must be on separate checks.

Regular business hours resume Jan. 2.

Summit Hill

Tax collector

The office of Summit Hill Tax Collector Kathleen Crampsie will be open the week of Christmas and New Year’s as follows:

Monday, 4:30 to 7 p.m.; Dec. 27, 12:30-4 p.m.; Dec. 30, 4:30-7 p.m.; and Dec. 31, 12:30 to 4 p.m.

Nesquehoning

Hometown Heroes banners

The Nesquehoning UVO and the Nesquehoning Historical Society announce the opening of the 2020 Hometown Heroes banner program. “We look forward to honoring our veterans, living and deceased, as well as active duty military men and women from our hometown,” the group said in a release.

Applications may be picked up at the Nesquehoning VFW, 300 E. Center St., and are due no later than Feb. 1.
