More than $28,000 was distributed to Carbon County agencies Tuesday morning by the United Way of Carbon County.

Bob Thomas, president, presented the funds, including $3,420 to both the Carbon County Action Committee and Shepherd House Inc.

Other donations went to Women in Crisis and the Carbon Training Center, which received $2,850 each; Volunteers for Literacy, $2,250; Carbon County Head Start, $1,995; and the American Red Cross, United Cerebral Palsy and the Association for Retarded Citizens, $1,425 each.

The recipients also included the Boy Scouts of America, Minsi Trails Council, Easter Seals and Penn’s Woods Council, Girl Scouts of America.
