3rd Monday Book Club

The 3rd Monday Book Club will meet at the Palmerton Area Library from noon to 1:30 p.m. Monday. The December book is “The Day the World Came to Town” by Jim DeFede. New members are always welcome.

Winter concert

A winter concert will be presented by the Palmerton Area Jr. High and Sr. High Bands and Choruses at 7 p.m. on Friday. The concert will be held in the Palmerton High School Auditorium. Admission is free.

Girl Scout fundraiser

A Christmas Caroling Fundraising Event with the Palmerton Area Girl Scouts will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday. Join the Girl Scouts and enjoy a night of Christmas caroling. Open to the public. Meet at the Park Gazebo at 5 p.m. Donation is $2 per person. Walk around spreading Christmas joy, singing carols. Upon return will be having hot chocolate. Rain/snow date is Dec. 21.

Breakfast

An all-you-can-eat breakfast will be held from 8 a.m. to noon Sunday at the Bowmanstown Rod & Gun Club, 525 Club Road, Palmerton. Menu items include eggs to order, potatoes, pancakes, SOS, hash, sausage, ham, bacon, toast, cereal, OJ, milk, coffee and tea. You can expect a visit from Santa Claus. Bring your camera.

Healing during the holidays

Come to the Palmerton Area Library to relax your body and soul from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday. Come meet local area holistic practitioners and experience relaxation with sessions that are sure to de-stress and calm you at this fundraising event. Treatments include massage, reiki, reflexology and facial massage. Donations are accepted for each treatment and proceeds from the sessions and raffle basket sales will benefit the library. Will be held in the Upper Gallery of the library. Grown-up participation only is suggested.

Tree lighting

The fourth annual Parryville Tree Lighting will be held at the Parryville Borough Hall from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Saturday. The lighting is at 6 p.m. Will have hot chocolate and coffee by the Parryville Fire Company and Chili from the Riverwalck Saloon. Caroling will be by members of the Lehighton Area High School Choir, Christmas crafts from Knot Just Pallets, and there will be an appearance by Santa Claus. Cookies will be donated by members of the community.

Clothing ministry

A clothing distribution will be held from 9-11 a.m. Saturday at Living Hope Lighthouse Church, 705 Third St., Palmerton. If you or anyone is in need, please come for free clothing, refreshments, and uplifting music/message. Spread the word.

Holy Trinity Lutheran

Worship with Communion will be held at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, 502 Lafayette Ave., Palmerton on Sunday at 10:15 a.m. After the service the annual end of the year congregational meeting for the adoption of the church budget for 2020 and election of members to the Church Council will be held. Your attendance is important.

The Children’s Christmas Shopping will be on Saturday. Shopping hours are 9 a.m. to noon. The Thrift Shop will be open to children from 4 to 12 years of age and these children may buy one gift for each person on their lists for 25 cents. Moms and dads are not allowed to shop that day. Helpers will be on hand to assist the children with buying and wrapping.

Jerusalem UCC

Worship services on Sunday at Jerusalem United Church of Christ, 545 Church Drive, Trachsville will be at 9 and 10:30 a.m. Adult Sunday school is at 9 a.m. Bible school for children begins around 9:15 a.m. after the “Children’s Church” program during the 9 a.m. worship.

Following the 10:30 worship service at about 11:30 a.m. will be a Christmas Caroling Bus and Christmas Boxes for Shut-ins will be delivered.

Kids Christmas Glow Night: Dec. 15 at 5:30 p.m. This free event will include pizza, crafts, games, a book to take home and more. Sign up in the lobby.

Faith Alive Sunday worship schedule with Pastor Rob Timlin: 8:30 a.m. contemporary worship, 9:45 a.m. Sunday school classes for all ages, and 10:45 a.m. traditional worship. Wednesdays 7 p.m. prayer and teaching. Everyone is welcome.

Christmas Eve services: Dec. 24, 5 p.m., traditional candlelight; 7 p.m. contemporary candlelight.

“The Case for Christ” free movie, Dec. 28 at 7 p.m.
