More than $111,000 was raised at the annual telethon held Sunday at Penn’s Peak in Jim Thorpe for Dream Come True, Blue Ridge Chapter. The telethon aired on Blue Ridge Communications TV 13 and Service Electric, Channel 19, in the Tamaqua area.
At the night’s end, the final tote board showed contributions of $111,396, nearly double the total raised in 2006 ($58,609).
The Blue Ridge Chapter, formed in 2004, continues to fulfill the dreams of children facing serious illnesses, having funded 14 “dreams” to date. Currently, there are several youths awaiting dream fulfillments, including five that are in the planning stages at this time.
