Ghost tours net $3K for Jim Thorpe Fire Company
Owners of the Old Jail Museum in Jim Thorpe recently donated $3,000 to the Jim Thorpe Fire Company following a special ghost tour event last month.
The Dart family said the proceeds came from over 200 ghost tours sold on the last Saturday in October.
“We value the service that our fire company provides and we want to thank everyone who came out to the ghost tours to support them,” Peggy Dart said. “We’re trying to spread the word in the community how much our emergency services agencies support us and we’re trying to show support for them in return.”
Fire Chief Vince Yaich said the fire company plans on using the funds for new gear and to upgrade its hose.
“Both stations, Diligent and Fairview, are at a point where they have gear that needs to be replaced and our hose is dated and getting past its useful life,” Yaich said. “It’s unbelievable and it really surprises you when a business takes the time and money to do this for us. They’re trying to provide for their family and they’re willing to take some of that and turn it over to the first responders. We’re lucky to be in a town where businesses are willing to do that for you.”
It is the second year the Dart family has donated ghost tour proceeds to an emergency services agency.
Last year, they gave a check for $1,855 to the Jim Thorpe Police Department through the Community Watch Program.
