Department of Conservation and Natural Resource has releaseda preliminary report of the results of an extensive two-year survey on the future of Pennsylvania’s state parks.
Surveys were conducted by Penn State in 2017 and 2018 to assess the attitudes and opinions of state park visitors and the public on key issues affecting the future of the state parks.
In 2017, 10,186 adults responded online and 4,090 answered surveys at parks. In 2018, a telephone effort reached out to 1,650 residents.
The report titled Penn’s Parks for All Preliminary Report is a summary of results from the surveys and recommendations to guide the management of the parks for the next 25 years. The report can be accessed at www.dcnr.pa.gov.
Some recommendations include improving outdoor recreation activities, protecting resources, offering more adventure activities, expanding overnight accommodations, protecting natural and cultural resources, financial support, and improving facilities.
