Advent breakfast
Tickets for the ninth annual Tamaqua Community Advent Breakfast have gone on sale. The breakfast is Dec. 7, beginning at 9 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church at the corner of Mauch Chunk and Greenwood streets. Tickets are available from each congregation’s Tamaqua Area Faith Fellowship Network representative or church office. Tickets are also be available at the Tamaqua Community Art Center. Tickets are limited and not sold at the door the day of the breakfast.
Richard Hadesty, Tamaqua Citizen of the Year, will deliver the Advent message. Carol Tempest is this year’s musical guest.
The breakfast features a special candle lighting ceremony and is sponsored by TAFFN, the Tamaqua Area Ministerial Association, the Tamaqua Community Partnership and the Tamaqua Chamber of Commerce and hosted by the Culinary Crew at Zion Lutheran Church. TAFFN is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization under the umbrella of the Tamaqua Area Community Partnership.
Calvary Lewistown
The Rev. Susan Moore will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday in Calvary Evangelical Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley. Sunday school classes are held at 9:15 a.m. Evening praise and worship will be at 6:30 p.m.

Community blood drive
An American Red Cross Blood Drive will be held on Tuesday from 1 to 6 p.m. at St. John United Church of Christ, 150 Pine St., Social Hall, Tamaqua.
Anyone 17 or older who weighs at least 110 pounds and is in general good health is eligible to donate blood.
