A Slatington man has been charged with child pornography.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by Detective Michael DiLuzio of the Bethlehem Police Department:
On Aug. 16, DiLuzio began an investigation to identify people using peer-to-peer file sharing software to distribute child pornography over the Internet, specifically on BitTorrent network, and used a specialized investigative peer-to-peer file sharing program to identify those possessing and sharing child pornography through the BitTorrent network.
A connection was made to a suspect device at an Internet Protocol address, which was provided to the investigative program.
The video showed a nude female child under the age of 10 engaged in a sexual act with an adult man.
On Sept. 17, DiLuzio obtained a court order for the subscriber and service address, which indicated the subscriber was Matthew Schlauch, 31, of the 6400 block of Church Road.
On Oct. 2, Lehigh County Detectives and Pennsylvania State Police troopers served a search warrant at Schlauch’s home, and Schlauch was interviewed.
Schlauch admitted to downloading and viewing child pornography for about the last 15 years, stating that he used specific search terms to locate files of child pornography and then deleted them when finished viewing.
Seized from the residence was a laptop computer, which Schlauch admitted was the computer he used.
Schlauch faces charges of dissemination of photographs, videotapes, computer depictions and films; child pornography; and criminal use of communication facility.
He is currently free in lieu of $25,000 unsecured bail, and is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Nov. 21 before District Judge Tom Creighton of Slatington.
