October 29, 1961 — Tony Rose and Vince Boyle both rush for over 100 yards to help Marian roll to a 27-0 victory over Shenandoah. Rose finishes with 115 yards on 12 carries, while Boyle ends with 103 on 13 attempts. The Colts, coached by Hugh “Wink” Gallagher, jump out to a lead in the first quarter on Adrian Ferko’s 11-yard TD run. Rose extends the advantage one play after Jack O’Gurek recovers a fumble by breaking free for a 66-yard trek to the end zone. Jerry Holubek returns one of his two incerptions 35 yards for a touchdown, while Boyle caps the scoring with a 1-yard plunge.
