A Coaldale man with a criminal history has been charged with possessing a firearm in the emergency room of a hospital.
According to the affidavit of probable cause filed by patrolman Ryan Oldt of the Coaldale Borough Police Department:
At 5 p.m. Oct. 3, Oldt was dispatched to St. Luke’s Miners Campus for a man who came into the emergency room with a weapon.
Upon arrival, Oldt was met by security and a man outside, at which time security advised that the weapon was secure in a lock box inside, and that was the man with the weapon but who had no form of identification on him.
The man was identified as Nathan Blose, 35, of West Lehigh Street.
Oldt asked Blose if he had a concealed weapon permit, but he said he has a tag for being a pedophile.
Oldt told him that doesn’t help, and Blose was run through the Schuylkill County 911 center, where they informed Oldt he didn’t have a permit to carry a concealed weapon.
Blose was taken into custody, and the weapon, a Colt automatic .32, serial number 1611, was retrieved from the security room.
Oldt spoke to a doctor who found the weapon on Blose who said that Blose came into the emergency room and went into Room 2.
When the doctor was doing an external evaluation on Blose, he felt the handle of the gun inside Blose’s waist band, and the doctor was able to grab the gun before Blose was able to.
A criminal history was obtained and shows that Blose has multiple felonies on his criminal record.
Blose faces charges of possession of firearm prohibited, and firearms not to be carried without license.
He is currently incarcerated in the Schuylkill County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail, and is scheduled to have a preliminary hearing Nov. 12 before District Judge Stephen J. Bayer of Tamaqua.
