Police: More than $5,000 worth of tools are stolen

State police at the Schuylkill Haven barracks said more than $5,000 worth of tools were stolen in a burglary that was reported to them at 8 p.m. Oct. 3.

It happened at 750 Ann St., Norwegian Township. The victims are Hayden Electric, Hazleton, and Happy Construction, Gordonville.

Police said the crime occurred when unknown people entered a construction site and used a torch to gain entry to a steel container that was used to store the tools.

Police said the people removed a Honda 6500 generator valued at $2,000 and about 100 feet of bare 4/0 copper wire worth $400.

The perpetrators also broke into a nearby shed on the property and removed another Honda inverter generator valued at $1,500, and various other power tools (Makita electric nibbler and electric shears worth $300 each). They also stole retractable fall arresters worth $1,000 and a gasoline can full of gas valued at $30, before fleeing the scene.
