The first worship service since the merger of the First Presbyterian Church of the Panther Valley, Summit Hill, and the First Presbyterian Church, Jim Thorpe, was held yesterday for the combined congregation in the Summit Hill church.

World Communion Sunday was also celebrated at this time, with the Rev. Carl Gray and his wife, the Rev. Donna Gray, co-pastors of the First Presbyterian Church of the Panther Valley, officiating.

The guest preacher was the Rev. Max B. Conley, executive of the Lehigh Presbytery, who congratulated the congregation and wished its members “God speed.”

Installation of the Grays as co-pastors of the church will take place on Nov. 3.
