Singers wanted for annual ecumenical cantata
Zion United Church of Christ, located at Second and Iron streets in Lehighton, will host its ecumenical Christmas Cantata Dec. 1.
“His Name is Jesus,” by Dennis and Nan Allen, will be performed at 7:30 p.m.
This is a brand-new cantata for Zion’s ecumenical singers, and was a gift to the church from last year’s participants of the cantata.
Additional funding to purchase the cantata came from memorial gifts in memory of Shirley Wentz, Judy Harris, Carol Larose and Paul R. Smith.
The group will once again be accompanied by the Zion Festival Orchestra, and will also be doing another anthem which is to still to be determined.
“His Name is Jesus,” is a special cantata consisting of a mix of contemporary and traditional songs. It includes “Joy to the World! The Lord Is Come” with “O Come, All Ye Faithful,” “What Did You Say Was the Baby’s Name?” “And His Name,” “Emmanuel,” “Hark! the Herald Angels Sing,” “He Knows My Name,” “Say the Name,” “Jesus Is the Sweetest Name I Know,” “Your Name,” “Finale: What Did You Say Was the Baby’s Name?” with “Hark! the Herald Angels Sing.”
