Fire companies from five communities responded to a structure fire in Walker Township Saturday afternoon.

The fire was first reported as a vehicle fire but soon upgraded to a structure fire.

Fire companies from Walker and West Penn townships, Tamaqua, Tuscarora and New Ringgold were dispatched to the scene. A quick response by firefighters saved the structure but the car sustained heavy fire damage. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Tamaqua fire police maintained traffic control at the scene.
