Penn’s Peak in Jim Thorpe is providing its guests with a unique and intimate concert experience this fall season.

Over the course of October, the event venue will be hosting 22 luncheon-style shows which are being kicked off on Oct. 1 by Josie Waverly in her show “My Gal Patsy: A Tribute to the Legendary Patsy Cline.”

Waverly’s performance, according to the Penn’s Peak website, “will take you on a country music journey in to what a night at a Patsy Cline concert would have been like.”

The show is said to include hits like “Walking After Midnight,” “Lovesick Blues,” “There He Goes,” “Crazy,” “Leavin on Your Mind” and “Sweet Dreams.”

Following Waverly’s performance, upcoming luncheon shows to look out for are Real Diamond, a Neil Diamond tribute, on Oct. 2 and 3 and Still Surfin’: A Musical Tribute to the Beach Boys on Oct. 8.

“Our luncheon show program features music from artists popular in the ’40s, ’50s, ’60s and into the ’70s,” Krysta Fink, Penn’s Peak marketing manager, said.

Each show will feature a three-course meal that begins at noon. Doors open at 11:30 a.m., and the concert will take place from 1 to 3 p.m.

The main course includes Penn’s Peak’s signature pot roast, a chicken option, vegetables, red skin potatoes and stuffing. Vegetarian options are also available upon request.

“The events are set up differently than a concert,” Fink said. “When you attend a concert, we have individual chairs set out and sometimes space for a dance floor.

“At a luncheon show, we have banquet tables covering the main floor and side wing areas. The tables are set with 8-10 people each.”

The shows cater to both bus groups and individuals, however, attendees can expect a much more intimate experience from Penn’s Peak’s usual roaring events.

The luncheon shows are said to host approximately 500 people while regular concerts can host an upward of 1,800.

“We have groups visit us from near and far … as near as 5 minutes away and as far as 4 hours away,” Fink said. “Our guests love the opportunity to enjoy the show in the afternoon and avoiding driving in the dark.”

The venue is also ADA accessible and features a full-service cash bar and a coffee and tea station. Guests can also enjoy a 50-mile panoramic nature view from the deck as well as shop at the No-Peaking Gift Shop.
