September 21, 1968 — Panther Valley scores the only points of its game with West Hazleton with 2:06 left in the fourth quarter when reserve quarterback Gene Zubey tosses a screen pass to Len Macalush, who races 40 yards to the end zone for a 7-0 Panthers victory. Zubey enters the game after Angie Santore is injured. PV’s defense limits their opponent to just 84 total yards and forces five turnovers, one of them a sack and fumble recovery combo by Orval Murphy.
