Local roundup: Results from Sept. 11
The Lehighton boys soccer team picked up its first win of the season Wednesday, knocking off North Schuylkill.
Elsewhere, Palmerton picked up a field hockey win, while the Pleasant Valley girls soccer and tennis teams also secured victories.
BOYS SOCCER
Lehighton-North Schuylkill
Carter Strauss’s hat trick led Lehighton to a 5-0 Schuylkill League triumph over North Schuylkill.
Strauss scored twice in the first half for the Indians (1-5, 1-3). Mason Marchesault and Connor McDonough also had goals for the Tribe.
Randy Bongiorno made four saves to preserve the shutout. Connor Hanley had two assists.
Stroudsburg-Pleasant Vy.
Stroudsburg edged Pleasant Valley for a 2-1 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference victory.
Jeffrey Pasciak scored twice for the Mounties.
Damarcus George had a goal for the Bears, while Jason Kapsis was credited with the assist.
FIELD HOCKEY
N. Lehigh-Northwestern
The game is currently suspended due to lightning with 3:09 remaining in the first half with Northwestern leading Northern Lehigh 1-0.
The match will resume Thursday, Sept. 19 at 3:30 p.m.
Salisbury-Palmerton
Palmerton rolled to a 7-1 Colonial League win over Salisbury.
Megan Serfass and Emma Christman both finished with two goals and an assist for the Bombers, while Emily Baumgardt and Erin Kistler both chipped in with a goal and an assist.
Molly Mihalko also found the back of the cage, while Abby Everett was credited with an assist.
GIRLS SOCCER
Stroudsburg-Pleasant Vy.
Two first-half goals put Pleasant Valley ahead in a 3-0 Eastern Pennsylvania Conference win over Stroudsburg.
Aliyah Williams and Danielle DiMarco both scored in the first half for the Bears, while Teah Cardoza added a goal in the second.
Cardoza and Larissa Mulligan were each credited with assists for PV. Samantha Merklin grabbed three saves to preserve the shutout.
Pleasant Valley improves to 4-0-2 overall (4-0-1 EPC), while Stroudsburg slips to 3-3 (3-2 EPC).
