Canned Food Drive

Bring cans and nonperishable food items to the Palmerton Area High School marching band’s concession stand at home football games to be donated to CACPAC food pantry. Donations will get you 50 cents off your concession stand purchase (per family per night). Home games are Aug. 30; Sept. 6 and 20; and Oct. 4, 11 and 25. Please consider donating to their food drive.

Support group

The Carbon County Chapter of the Compassionate Friends, an ongoing support group for parents, grandparents and adult siblings grieving the loss of a child, grandchild or sibling. The group will meet at the Palmerton Community Ambulance building, 501 Delaware Ave., Palmerton on Sept. 3 from 7-9 p.m. For more information, call 484-719-6753 or email tcfcarboncounty@gmail.com.

Gaming Grotto

Gaming Grotto is open to the public and is hosted by Living Hope Lighthouse Church, 705 N. Third Street, Palmerton. The event is held the first and third Friday of each month. For the month of September, the dates are Sept. 6 and 20. This is a free gaming lounge where people can build relationships through the gaming culture. Have gaming systems of all kinds and board games. Refreshments available for a small fee.

Breakfast

Breakfast will be served from 8 a.m. to noon on Sept. 1 at the Parryville Volunteer Fire Company No. 2, 359 Main St., Parryville. Platter choices include, pancakes, French toast, SOS, eggs, omelets or popular Fire House Mess. Choice of meats are bacon, ham, sausage or scrapple. Includes home fries, juice and coffee. Palmerton library

Preschool Story Time will resume Sept. 6 at 10:30 a.m. at the Palmerton Area Library. This is held every Friday during the school year. Peapods Story Time for ages 0 to 2 will meet the second Tuesday of each month at 11 a.m. starting Sept. 10. Saturday story time will be held the third Saturday of the month at 10:30 a.m. beginning Sept. 21.
