On Aug. 24 at 8 p.m., Penn’s Peak will welcome three new guests from over the pond.

Welsh alternative rock/new wave band The Alarm will jam out, alongside Modern English and Jay Aston’s Gene Loves Jezebel as part of the Sigma LXXXV Tour.

The Alarm will perform some of their classic hits, such as “Rain in the Summertime,” and will also introduce their new album “Sigma,” which debuted at No. 1 on U.K. charts on June 28.

“The Sigma Tour will bring out the best that The Alarm has to offer the 21st century, and along with our friends Modern English and Jay Aston’s Gene Loves Jezebel, we look forward to taking part in an event that will hopefully, live long in the memory for all our fans.” said Alarm lead singer Mike Peters. “Fans can expect collaboration, moments of reflection, camaraderie and also the unexpected.”

The Alarm, which initially formed in 1977 as a punk band called The Toilets, transformed in 1981 into the band music lovers know.

Despite their years of service to the rock ’n’ roll industry, Peters and his wife, Jules Peters, have both experienced a hard fight with cancer. Both are currently in remission.

Peters was diagnosed with blood cancer three times, the first being Non-Hodgkin lymphoma which came in 1995.

Jules was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2016.

A music video for a song on “Sigma,” titled “Brighter Than the Sun,” was inspired by Jules’ strength through her radiotherapy in 2016.

“The heroism she shows is incredible,” Peters said.

Although a truly dark time for The Alarm family, something good did come out of it.

Love Hope Strength

Inspired by both Mike and Jules Peters’ fights with cancer, each and every one of The Alarm’s shows contributes to finding bone marrow donors for people suffering from blood cancer.

The Love Hope Strength charity, which Peters co-founded, makes this all possible.

In 2007, the organization was created, and in 2008, it was registered as a charity. Throughout the tour, Love Hope Strength will be hosting bone marrow drives and distributing information.

Throughout their mission, Love Hope Strength has added more than 175,000 people to the international registry, as well as made more than 4,000 potentially lifesaving matches.

“We want to show people that cancer doesn’t mean the end. Everyone has a fighting chance to live,” he said. “We’ve been through some terrible experiences but we’re still living, playing music, still together as a family and we have the rest of our lives to look forward to.”

Concertgoers can expect a fitting tribute to the charity at the end of the performance by The Alarm, Modern English and Jay Aston’s Gene Loves Jezebel.

Members of the bands will join together for a grand finale version of the “Love Hope Strength” charity anthem to highlight the additional lifesaving aspect of the tour.

“Our music, which still gets played on the radio every single day, gives us all a platform for creativity that will shine through every second of the Sigma Tour,” Peter said. “Up on the main stage every night, The Alarm will be celebrating the release of a new music album titled Sigma, and honoring the 1985 “Strength” album reissue that has literally changed and saved lives through Love Hope Strength.

“The Sigma Tour will look, sound and feel like no other,” he added. It’s an opportunity for our generations of fans, to make themselves heard, and for us as artists to prove that we are still as relevant as when we first helped shape the musical landscape of America, and when its citizens looked to British bands for inspiration and alternatives.”
