Panther Valley OKs security features

The Panther Valley school board recently approved contracts to improve security features at all of its buildings, and to add new dugouts to the high school softball field.

The work includes software which will allow administrators to control cameras and building access controls remotely through the cloud.

The board approved a contract with Auto Glass Shop of Hazleton to replace the front entrance doors and vestibule at the Junior-Senior High School for $50,650.

The board approved two contracts with LowV Systems Inc. of Mechanicsburg, totaling $37,430. LowV will upgrade the video cameras at Panther Valley High School, Intermediate School and Elementary School to allow cloud access at a cost of $24,998. The district will then pay $3,920 annually for the cloud services.

They will also update the building access controls at the three buildings at a cost of $12,432. Work is set to begin soon on those two projects.

The dugout contract is for $16,000. The district is currently working on a sponsorship agreement with Mauch Chunk Trust to help fund the project.
