Palmerton library news for August
Palmerton Library announced the following activities will be held at the library.
Children’s activities
• Story Time: All story time activities will start again in September.
• Student Art & Photography Show: 2-4 p.m. Aug. 24 for ages 6 to 18. Limit three pieces per student. All artwork must be matted or framed and ready to hang. Deadline to submit: Aug. 22.
• Creation Station: Stop by the library on Mondays in August from 6 to 7 p.m. for space-themed crafts, coloring sheets, mazes and word finds.
Activities for all
• Knitting Club will not meet this month. Next meeting will be in October.
• Yoga classes are offered every Saturday at 9 a.m. For more information, call 570-436-1762 or stop in on Saturday morning.
• Library Board of Directors meets the third Wednesday of each month at 4 p.m. Meetings are open to the public.
• Our Family History: Come to the library on the second Tuesday of each month from 6-7:30 p.m. to learn how to research your family history.
• Qigong Class: For beginners Mondays 5:30-6:30 p.m. Instructor: Kiki Peppard. Gentle, relaxing exercises coordinated to soft music incorporating breathing with smooth, slow, flowing movement. For more information, call 570-460-8485.
• Chain and Book Bingo continues through the end of August. Every “chain link” or completed bingo sheet is a chance to win a prize. Stop by the library to sign up.
• Reminder: The library will be closed Sept. 2 in observance of Labor Day.
Golf Tournament
The eighth Palmerton Area Library Golf Tournament will be Aug. 23 at Blue Shamrock Golf Club. Registration at noon, 1:30 p.m. shotgun start, dinner buffet and awards at 6 p.m.
Adopt A Shelf
The library needs Adopt A Shelf volunteers. Volunteers are responsible for keeping one shelf of books in order. Stop by the library for more information.
Auction and sale
The Friends of the Palmerton Library are sponsoring a basket auction for the month of August. In addition, purchase a reusable tote bag to fill up with books, movies, CDs and puzzles at their basement sale. Tote bags may be purchased and filled at a later date with the receipt attached to the bag. All proceeds benefit the library.
Teen ideas
