Lehigh County Community College trustees were told last night an off-campus facility in Carbon County should be considered as a way to recoup enrollment losses of county students.

Trustee Leon Peters said the college should consider renting a facility to serve as the satellite campus, noting enrollment in 1973-74 from the Panther Valley area was expected to be 73 full-time equivalent students.

He said taxpayers are getting dividends for their financing of community college, as evidenced in expenditure figures, pointing out it costs $27 million to educate 41,000 community college students in the state per year as opposed to $117 million for 76,000 students at state-owned and $29 million for 31,000 students at state-aided institutions.
