State police at Frackville reported investigating a one-vehicle crash at 1:49 p.m. on Friday along Route 209 at Route 1001 in Schuylkill Township, just west of Tamaqua.

Troopers said Thomas D. Owen, 65, of Cumbola, was driving a 2010 Chevrolet Colorado pickup southbound and attempted to turn right onto 1001 when his truck hit a guide rail.

Owen was injured and taken to St. Luke’s Miners Campus in Coaldale by Tamaqua ambulance. The truck was towed.

Troopers cited Owen for driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.
