Tamaqua Police Log

Tamaqua police reported on the following incidents:

• Tyler M. Strawdinger, 26, of Coaldale, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia stemming from a July 8 incident. A witness told police that he observed two men acting erratically around Schuylkill Avenue. Police saw Strawdinger on Mauch Chunk Street making “violent twitching motions” and wandering around in a private lot looking at the sky. Strawdinger admitted using methamphetamine earlier in the day. After being searched police found a small amount of marijuana on him. He was unable to stand and sweating profusely. Strawdinger was placed into custody. Additionally, there was an active warrant out for his arrest for parole violation. Strawdinger was transported to Schuylkill County prison.

• Faylynne Harrison, 34, of Tamaqua, was charged with possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia after a July 3 incident. Police were contacted about a wanted woman on North Columbia Street. It was confirmed that there was an outstanding warrant for her arrest. Harrison was taken into custody where she informed police that she had drugs in her possession.

Police found two needles, 28 empty purple and pink baggies, a pink baggie with crushed crystal rock substance and a white container that contained a cotton swab.

• Deborah M. Vargas, 26, of Tamaqua was cited for retail theft after a July 12 occurrence. The incident happened at the Family Dollar on Centre Street, where Vargas took $14.79 worth of items without paying. Police noted that the incident is part of a series of acts with Vargas.

• Calvin D. Breiner, 38, of Tamaqua, was cited for a July 4 incident. Police were dispatched to Bowe and High streets for a fireworks complaint. Police advised Breiner to not set off fireworks in the road. Roughly 15 minutes later, police were dispatched back to the same area for another complaint. Police saw Breiner setting off more fireworks in the middle of the road, blocking traffic.
