Other activities at Musikfest
With music being the primary focus of the 10-day festival, Musikfest organizers are also highlighting the arts. Here are some other things going on at the festival.
Creative activities
• ArtsQuest Glass Studio’s Hot Glass Tent: Air Products Americaplatz, by the Fly Wheel. Open 11 a.m.-10 p.m. daily for sales.
• 2019 Hot Shotz Competition: Aug. 1 to 4, 2-8 p.m., Aug. 9 and 10, 2-8 p.m. ArtsQuest Glass Studio will hold its third Borosilicate Flameworking Competition. This year, competitors will work in teams of two in a 6-hour time slot to complete an original drinking vessel set. Fans can then vote for their favorite work through Facebook Aug. 11-21.
• Crayola Creativity Tent at Familienplatz: Aug. 2, 5-9 p.m., Aug. 3-11, noon-9 p.m. Children and their families can participate in hands-on projects each day, including saber-tooth caveman necklaces, alien & monster headbands, superhero capes and more. As well as opportunities to win Crayola products and tickets to the Crayola Experience in Easton.
• Community Poet-Tree at Familienplatz: Visitors will have the opportunity to add or take a poem and hang it on a community tree.
• Musikfest Sculpture Garden at Familienplatz: Relax and enjoy interactive art installations and community projects along the bank of the Monocacy Creek, including mural panels and live painting by local artists.
Comedy
The Lehigh Valley with Love ComedyPlatz returns to Musikfest with 14 free stand-up comedy shows over six nights on Aug. 2-4 and 9-11 at The Ice House on 56 River St.
Regular shows are 7 and 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 2-3 and 9-10 and 7 p.m. on Aug. 4 and 11. Tickets are not needed for the shows. Highlights include: Doogie Horner, Boris Khaykin, Jim Tews, Nataly Aukar and Bob Hansen.
In addition to the evening shows, Lehigh Valley with Love ComedyPlatz will also feature four family-friendly shows.
These shows will be at 4:30 p.m. on Aug. 3, 4 and 10, 11. The shows are designed to allow families to bring their children to comedy events that will feature suitable content, although parental guidance is always suggested.
