Calvary Lewistown

All services for Calvary Evangelical United Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley will be held at the Lewistown Valley Tabernacle.

Pastor Susan Moore will preside over the 10:25 a.m. service, which will be the start of a new sermon series titled “The goodness of God.” This week’s subject is holiness. Special music will be presented by Allie Gerber. Sunday school will be held at 9:15 a.m.

There will be a Sunday evening service of musical and testimonial praise and Bible study with Pastor Moore at 6:30 p.m.

No Wednesday evening prayer service this week so that you can attend the Dixie Melody Boys concert at 7 p.m.

The annual Sunday school picnic will be held on Aug. 4 immediately after morning service. Fun, food, fellowship and evening vespers at 6 p.m. Call 570-668-3359 to discuss your contribution to the “carry in menu.”

Free Concert

Cressona Band will present a free concert at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at the East End Park, Mountain Avenue, Tamaqua. For more information, call 570-622-8784

Annual Book Sale

The Tamaqua Public Library will hold its annual book and bake sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 3. They have a large inventory of gently used and like-new books, coffee table-style books, movies, puzzles and much more. Prices begin at just 10 cents.

Baked goods will also be available for purchase.

The Tamaqua library is located at 30 S. Railroad St.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. service this Sunday at Zion Church Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:15 a.m.

Women’s prayer study meets every Monday at 6 p.m.

The fundraiser committee will meet at 6:30 p.m. Aug. 13, followed by the preschool board meeting at 7:30 p.m.

St. John Lutheran

The Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. Sunday service in St. John’s Lutheran Church, the seventh Sunday after Pentecost.

Summer office hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday through Thursday.

Bethany EC

Rev. Kevin Roberts will officiate at the 8 and 10:30 a.m. worship services this Sunday in Bethany Evangelical Congregational Church. Sunday school classes meet at 9:15 a.m.

Commission meeting will be held Sunday at 11:45 a.m.

Activities for the week include: Monday, Celebrate Recovery at 6:30 p.m., Wednesday worship practice at 7 p.m.
