Two first-time offenders in the criminal justice system were placed in Carbon County’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program on Monday by President Judge Roger N. Nanovic II.

If a person successfully completes all conditions of the program, their record his wiped clean. However, if they fail to complete it, or are revoked from it, then they would face trial on all pending charges. A person does not admit guilt in entering the program.

Both were placed for a year.

Thomas G. McMillan

, 63, of Philadelphia, was placed on a charge of criminal mischief. He was arrested by Lehighton police on Sept. 29, 2018, at a residence along South Second Street. He went to the residence of a female he once had an relationship with and damaged her vehicle.

He was assessed $450 for the cost of the program and ordered to get a mental health evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment, render 20 hours of community service and make restitution for damages of $3,823.40 to the vehicle.

Deborah Yannetti

, 65, of Summit Hill, was placed on a charge of institutional vandalism. She was arrested on Feb. 8 by Summit Hill police for a hit-and-run incident in which her vehicle struck two parked vehicles and damaged two tombstone along Mountain Top Road.

She was assessed $450 and ordered to get a drug and alcohol evaluation and follow any recommendation for treatment and make restitution for damages to be determined by the adult probation office.

Both defendants must also pay court costs of about $1,000 and a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
