Rain, rain, rain, ah, sun! Time to start the mowers! And do all the other work that couldn’t be done when it was raining, such as clear drain covers, trim weeds, patch roads and sweep roads.
“Our road crew is doing a good job,” Supervisor Robert Leibensperger said during a township meeting Wednesday. “We’ve (Rush Township) already spent $35,000 in road repair and patching, and they are doing their best to work around and through the weather.”
Leibensperger said that although a few residents have called in complaints about potholes, the road crew is working hard to address the problems.
In other action, the supervisors adopted the contract resolution for the township’s membership in Eastern Schuylkill Recreation Commission. Rush, Walker, West Penn and Schuylkill townships, the Tamaqua Area School District, Tamaqua YMCA, Middleport and Tamaqua borough are members.
Since 1997, the ESRC has developed trails, organized sports leagues, and hosted a variety of recreational events.
