Senior Center

The menu at the Panther Valley Senior Center for the week of July 15-19 is:

Monday: Stuffed cabbage, mashed potatoes, carrots, jello or tuna wrap

Tuesday: Bag lunch: Hoagie, macaroni salad, bean salad, fruit cup

Wednesday: Chicken potpie, red potatoes, green beans, pineapple or pork and cheese sandwich

Thursday: Roast beef, parsley potatoes, peas and carrots, bread pudding or beef Thai salad

Friday: Tomato soup, chicken primavera, pasta, mixed berries or chicken salad sandwich

The Panther Valley Senior Center has announced upcoming events for July 15-26.

Birthday Bingo on July 15 at 11 a.m.; Picnic at the Nesquehoning Fire Company Pavilion on July 16 at 10 a.m.; Women’s Pool and Men’s Cards on July 17 at 10 a.m.; Yahtzee on July 18 at 11 a.m.; Movie and Popcorn on July 19 at 10 a.m.

Balloon Tennis on July 22 at 11 a.m.; Blood Pressures on July 23 at 9:30 a.m. followed by Kitchen Bingo at 11 a.m.; Cornhole on July 24 at 11 a.m.; Hollywood Casino bus trip on July 25 leaving at 11 a.m.; Poker-Keeno on July 26 at 11 a.m.

Nesquehoning

Neighborhood watch

The next Nesquehoning Neighborhood Watch meeting will take place at 7 p.m. on Aug. 5 at the borough hall. All are welcome.

VFW Auxiliary

The Nesquehoning Memorial VFW Post 8008 Auxiliary will hold a brief, special meeting at 6:30 p.m. on July 12 in the social Hall at the Post home.

All members are urged to attend.

Historical society

The Nesquehoning Historical Society will be hosting a full day trip to Lancaster on Aug. 1. The bus will leave the CVS parking lot at 7:45 a.m. and return at 8 p.m.

The first stop will be lunch at the Kitchen Kettle Village, followed by a tour of an Amish farm and house and a visit to the “Willow Lane” one-room schoolhouse.

Dinner will be at the “Hometown Kitchen” restaurant.

The trip costs $70 per person, which includes dinner and all tips.
