Tamaqua posted its first win of the season as the Blue Sox edged Valley View, 4-3.
Jimmy Akins had three hits and knocked in two runs for the winners, who used a three-run fifth inning to take the lead.
Tyler Steigerwalt added two hits and two runs, while Luke Van Buskirk contributed a pair of hits and an RBI.
Tate Ligenza gained the pitching win, striking out six, while Michael Bonetsky tossed two scoreless innings to earn the save.

The pitching of Brad Buzzard helped the Carbon Monarchs defeat Coplay, 4-3.
Buzzard allowed just two hits and two walks while striking out 11. He also helped his own cause with a hit and an RBI.
Jared Joyce added a hit and a run, while Wyatt Zimmerman’s run-scoring sacrifice fly in the fifth proved to be the winning run.
