The Panther Valley School District Board of Education on Thursday night named an acting superintendent to fill the shoes of J. Christopher West, who resigned his position to accept a job with Weissport-based Educare.
On the recommendation from West, the board unanimously appointed Rosemary Porembo of Nesquehoning to the position for a term of two years, beginning on Aug. 8.
Porembo, the elementary school principal, will receive an annual salary of $92,000 and will have completed all necessary coursework for her certification by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Department of Education as a superintendent.
