June 22, 2006 — A number of area players participate on the winning Red Team in the 36th Annual McDonald’s Lehigh Valley All-Star Football Classic. Stroudsburg’s Bryan Mery kicks a field goal with 1.8 seconds left to give the Red squad, made up of players from Lehigh, Carbon and Monroe counties, a 20-17 victory. Lehighton’s Kyle Brong makes a key defensive stop on a third-and-goal to force a Gold field goal to tie the game with under three minutes to play. Northern Lehigh’s Matt Sutjak runs five times for 19 yards, while teammate Nick Hosford adds nine yards on three attempts. Pleasant Valley’s Kyle Bonser carries three times for eight yards. Other locals in the contest include Northern Lehigh’s Mike Tumbiolo, Scott Snyder and Andrew Tulio, Lehighton’s Sean Albouq, Cory Frey and Cody Zatsko, Northwestern’s Jake Lindenmuth, Palmerton’s Kyle Ritter and Pleasant Valley’s Vito Spinelli.
