The Keystone Energy Efficiency Alliance along with the Sustainable Energy Fund and Reynolds Energy Services hosted an event at Pleasant Valley Manor recently.

The Pleasant Valley Manor provides nursing and rehabilitation services.

The energy efficiency industry representatives provided advice on reducing PVM’s facility cost and investing more time in patient services. With the advice, PVM changed the lighting, chillers, steam traps and technology controls. The total savings resulted to more than $73,000.

“The partnership with the Sustainable Energy Fund and Reynolds Energy Services was a perfect route to take to improve our residents’ living environment while creating long-term energy cost savings,” said Drew Lutton, administrator for PVM.

PVM used rebates consisting of more than $10,000 from Act 129 which helped the lighting and chiller projects.

“We applaud Pleasant Valley Manor, Reynolds, and the Sustainable Energy Fund for forging a partnership that saves energy, saves money, and helps support a local institution,” said Matt Elliott, executive director of KEEA.

“Additionally, we applaud Pennsylvania’s successful Act 129 energy efficiency programs which provide incentives to businesses, non-profits, and residents across the state to save money on their utility bills.”

Guests who attended the event witnessed the use of the new technologies and energy-saving appliances to reduce energy consumption and lower utility costs for PVM.

Some of the guests in attendance were Vice Chairman Charles Garris of the Monroe County Commissioners, staff from the offices of Rep. Maureen Madden and Rep. Jack Rader, Councilwoman Tara Zrinski of the Northampton County Council and representatives from the utility Met Ed, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection, the Sustainable Energy Fund, and Reynolds Energy Services.
