Commonwealth Charter Academy, a K through 12 public cyber charter school serving more than 9,500 Pennsylvania students, held a graduation ceremony — the third of four this week across the state — to recognize the hard work and academic achievement of the Class of 2019 at Penn’s Peak in Jim Thorpe on Wednesday.

About 250 students from more than 15 counties in northeastern Pennsylvania make up part of CCA’s Class of 2019, which consists of more than 1,000 graduates.

“I have had the opportunity to speak with many CCA graduates at different times throughout the school year, and I am encouraged,” said Dr. Maurice Flurie, CCA’s CEO. “I see them as individuals who are looking to contribute, striving to do better and not afraid to take risks to achieve.”

As a statewide public cyber charter school, CCA offers a comprehensive, personalized and flexible educational program to its students and their families. CCA emphasizes the importance of providing students with the tools and support to prepare them for postsecondary success, whether they attend college, enlist in the military or enter the workforce.

“Our mission as educators is not just to get students to graduation, but we must put them on a path for success after graduation regardless of the track they choose,” Flurie said. “It is critically important that we prepare today’s generation to become tomorrow’s leaders.”

Eleijah Cieplinksi of Easton has been with CCA since kindergarten and will be graduating ahead of schedule. She was selected as a graduation speaker and her speech focused on encouraging her classmates to be grateful for the help of others.

“Remember who your supports are, and don’t forget to thank them,” Cieplinksi shares. “Each of us are unique individuals. We’ll each go on to lead our own lives, and we’ll go places. Wherever you go, make sure to carry with you that gratefulness to the people who have helped you to get where you are.”

CCA will hold one more graduation ceremony tonight in Drexel Hill, Delaware County.
