Lehighton Borough Council took the following action last week:
• Approved a change order in the amount of $22,557 for the Baer Memorial Improvement Project for construction of rain gardens.
• Accepted Ryan Saunders resignation from the Lehighton Parks & Recreation Board.
• Accepted Floyd Brown’s resignation from the Lehighton Sewer Authority and appointed Greg Mriss to the authority.
• Approved a request from Debra & Joseph Bennett for the subdivision & vacation plan extension until Aug. 31.
• Approved the 2019 Street Paving Program & Alley Paving as follows: Paving (with local forces) Eleventh Street from Mahoning to Hamilton (center); Jamestown Road from Eighth Street to the township line; South Second Street curbline from South Street to Iron Street; Queen Alley from Ochre Street to Coal Street; and tentatively Bridge Street depending on funds.
• Approved a request to adopt a resolution for MCT Financing authorizing the financing of the Public Works Ford F-250XL.
• Denied a request to Lehighton Area School District for playground equipment at Shull-David.
• Agreed to advertise the Public Works 2000 GMC Pickup truck with plow.
• Granted Lehighton Pool Pals permission to host Family Fun Night on July 13.
• Hired seasonal employees for Baer Memorial Pool per the recreation director
• Approved Mahoning Township’s request for fire police assistance with Oriolesfest June 6-9.
• Approved a request to close borough hall Dec. 24, Dec. 26, and Dec. 31, using personal/vacation time for the holidays.
