St. John Lutheran

The Rev. Phyllis Wolford will officiate at the 9:15 a.m. Sunday service in St. John’s Lutheran Church, Pentecost “Birthday of the church” with Holy Communion, Affirmation of Baptism (Rite of Confirmation). Wear red! Sunday school classes are held at 10:30 a.m.

Primitive Methodist

Pastor Rick Clemson will officiate at the 10:45 a.m. worship service this Sunday in American Primitive Methodist Church. Sunday school classes are held at 9:30 a.m.

Zion Lewistown

Pastor Jim Williams will officiate at the 10:30 a.m. service this Sunday at Zion Church Lewistown Valley. Sunday school is scheduled for 9:15 a.m.

The basket raffle to benefit Zion Church and Preschool is scheduled for Saturday at the New England Fire Company, 7 Miller Lane, Tamaqua, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Homemade food and desserts will be available. You need not be present to win.

Baby food ministry

The St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. John XXIII Roman Catholic Parish distributes free baby food and cereal on the third Saturday of each month by appointment only. This ministry is for families with babies up to 1 year old living within the Tamaqua Area School District or belonging to the parish.

Proof of residency with photo identification and proof of the child’s age are required.

Stage 1 and 2 baby food and cereal will be provided each month.

This month’s distribution will be on from 9 to 11 a.m. June 15 in the church hall at 307 Pine St. Deadline for requests is June 12.

Calvary Lewistown

The Rev. Susan Moore will officiate at the 10:25 a.m. worship service this Sunday as we celebrate Pentecost and recognition of children’s day at Calvary Evangelical Methodist Church in the Lewistown Valley. Sunday school classes will be held at 9:15 a.m. There will be a Sunday evening service with the Rev. Moore.

Wednesday prayer meeting will be held at 7 p.m.

VFW Post 5069

The monthly meeting of VFW Post 5069 will be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesday at West Penn Park.

On July 20, a luncheon will be held at Leiby’s at 11 a.m. for members and one guest.
