North comes out on top at 2019 senior games
The dancing shoes, bowling balls, beanbags and pool cues have been put away and another year is in the books.
And as the Carbon County Senior Games wraps up another successful year, it is the North Carbon County Seniors, consisting of Weatherly, Jim Thorpe and Panther Valley, who have come out as this year’s top dog.
The team earned 757 points during the seven days of competition, narrowly beating out the South Carbon County team, made up of Lehighton and Palmerton, who scored a combined total of 750 points.
On Wednesday, the seniors showed off their bingo, pinochle, rummy and dance skills at the Lehighton Recreation Center, but when the music stopped, the dust settled and all was said and done, the North claimed the victory for the first time since 2015.
