The fourth annual Tamaqua Empty Bowl Dinner is set for May 15.
While the dinner continues to raise funds for Tamaqua’s three food banks and once again offers scrumptious soups from many Tamaqua area restaurants, the location, sponsorship and dinner format have changed. The event is now an ecumenical project of the Tamaqua Area Faith Fellowship Network and will be held in Trinity UCC’s Founder Hall.
Doors open for the event at 5:30 p.m. Serving continues until 7:30 p.m.
When diners arrive, they will spend time in a gathering area with light snacks and beverages. Locally handmade bowls, specialty bowls and baskets to be raffled off will be on display in the area. A video will offer a wrap-up of the Hunger Weekend events and the May 5 Hunger Walk.
Tickets are available from all TAFFN congregations as well as at the Tamaqua Chamber of Commerce and the Tamaqua Art Center. Tickets will also be sold at the door and quarts of soup will be available for $10.
Trinity UCC is located at 22 Lafayette St. in Tamaqua. Parking is available behind the church and across the street from the church. Entrance to Founder’s Hall is on the lower back side of the building.
