North retakes lead as senior games nears finish line

With only one day left in the 31st annual Carbon County Senior Games, the North Carbon County seniors, made up of Jim Thorpe, Panther Valley and Weatherly, have retaken the lead with a combined score of 718. Panther Valley has 293; Jim Thorpe, 379; and Weatherly, 46.

But the South Carbon County seniors, consisting of Lehighton and Palmerton, are keeping the games tight.

They are giving it their all with a score of 708. Individually, Lehighton has 475 while Palmerton has 233.

So who will take home this year’s Commissioners’ Cup? Will the North take back the throne from the South?

That answer will be revealed during today’s competition.

Tuesday’s events included the Philip Steigerwalt Memorial Walk, softball throw, horseshoes and boccie.
