A Carbon County man who showed up last week to enter a special probation program but was jailed when the presiding judge learned he was under the influence of controlled substances, was placed in the special program after spending two days in jail.
Gregory Steven Ross, 32, of Albrightsville, was placed in the county’s Accelerated Rehabilitation Disposition probation program last Thursday by Judge Steven R. Serfass.
On April 30, Ross appeared for placement in the program, but when Serfass was told by adult probation department personnel that they suspected he was under the influence of drugs, the judge ordered him tested.
The test showed the presence of methamphetamine and fentanyl in his system. Serfass had already placed him in the program.
Serfass then revoked him from the ARD, found him in contempt of court, and ordered him jailed.
Ross was given a second chance by the court and was placed in the ARD program for a year and was assessed $650 for the cost of the program and ordered to enter and successfully complete a detox and follow all recommendations, driver’s license suspended for 60 days, render 50 hours of community service, pay court costs of about $1,000 and pay a $50 per month supervision fee while in the program.
Ross was arrested for driving under the influence on Aug. 4, 2018, by state police at Fern Ridge along Route 903 in Penn Forest Township.
