Northwestern continued its strong play on the diamond, as its baseball and softball teams posted wins over Salisbury on Monday.
Meanwhile, Jim Thorpe’s baseball squad clinched a district playoff berth with a victory, while Northern Lehigh gained wins over Catasauqua in both baseball and softball action.

Salisbury-Northwestern
Northwestern’s Carter Welch threw a one-hit shutout with 16 strikeouts to lead the Tigers to a 9-0 Colonial League victory over Salisbury.
Connor Snyder led the winners (17-2; 15-1) with three hits, including a home run, and three RBIs.
Colten Hagadus contributed two hits and knocked in three runs, while Nick Henry finished with two hits, two RBIs and a pair of runs.

A five-run first inning propelled Northern Lehigh to a 5-2 Colonial League win over Catasauqua.
Luke Eitner went the distance for the Bulldogs, scattering eight hits and walking three while striking out 10.
Brandon Hess had a two-run single for the Bulldogs (6-12; 4-11), while Chase Misera added two hits, a run and an RBI. Josh Kistler contributed two hits and an RBI, and Alec Berger chipped in with a pair of hits.

Brayden Knoblauch picked up the win and also slugged a home run in Tamaqua’s 7-2 Schuylkill League victory over Pine Grove.
Knoblauch pitched all seven innings, allowing just four hits and one walk while striking out eight. He also added two hits at the plate.
Nate Boyle collected two hits, one a double, and two RBIs, while Gavin Richards knocked in a pair of runs. Tate Ligenza chipped in with a double and an RBI.
The Blue Raiders concluded their season with a 5-15 record, 3-9 in the league.

Colin Binder’s RBI single in the fifth inning snapped a tie and produced the game-winning run.
Jared Marykwas went the distance on the mound for the Olympians (9-10; 6-5), allowing just four hits and two walks while fanning one.
Jake Schwartz had two hits and an RBI for Thorpe. Zach Searfoss chipped in with a hit and two runs.

Kendall Heiney and Alicia Horn combined on a four-inning no-hitter. The two also recorded 11 of the 12 outs via strikeout.
