Local Roundup: Results from May 4

Marian’s baseball team won a slugfest against Jim Thorpe on Saturday, while Pleasant Valley’s girls lacrosse team gained its fourth straight victory.

Alex Kubishin and Mike Minchhoff hit back-to-back homers in the second inning and Marian rallied from an early five-run deficit to gain a 16-9 non-league victory over Jim Thorpe.

Jacob Schwartz helped the Olympians (8-10) score five runs in the first with a grand slam.

Kubishin, who finished with three hits and three runs, gave the Colts (11-5) their first lead in the second inning when his three-run homer made it 7-6. Minchhoff followed with a solo blast.

Matt Doherty added three hits and two runs for the winners, while Dante Agosti and winning pitcher Brandon Cann both added a pair of hits and two RBIs. Aaron Mason chipped in with two hits, a run and an RBI, and Julian Rickert finished with two hits. Chris Latoff and Nick Waak each scored two runs.

Thorpe’s Schwartz ended the wild contest with three hits and five RBIs, while Jared Joyce ended with three hits and two runs. Ian Hubbard added two hits, with Zachary Searfoss contributing a hit and two runs.

Blue Mtn.-Pleasant Valley

A solo home run in the eighth inning off the bat of Nate Nabholz lifted Blue Mountain to a 2-1 non-league win over Pleasant Valley.

The Eagles (15-1) limited PV to just four hits in the contest.

Brandon Ratti had a hit and run scored for the Bears (11-6). Tyler Horton pitched well in defeat, allowing just two runs in seven-plus innings. He allowed no walks while striking out two.

Matt Burnett knocked in PV’s only run with a groundout in the fourth inning.

GIRLS LACROSSE

Lake-Lehman-Pleasant Vy.

Jules Lopez scored eight goals and Hayle Stintsman added five as Pleasant Valley rolled to a 21-9 victory over Lake-Lehman.

The Bears (13-4), who won their fourth straight contest, also received four tallies from Brielle McInaw.

Alexandra Bush had a big game for the winners with three goals and seven assists. Summer Storm added a goal and an assist, while Lopez and Meghan Hallenbeck both finished with two helpers. Goalie Danni Reino made four saves.
