May 4, 1983 — Kris Fegley drives in the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth inning and Sheri Evans holds the lead in the seventh with a perfect inning as Tamaqua edges Mount Carmel, 5-4, in a Schuylkill League contest. With the score tied in the home sixth, Theresa Boyle works a walk and Mary Sue Liaw enters as a pinch-runner. Liaw steals second and races home on Fegley’s single. Evans strikes out two of the three batters she faces to seal the victory. The Blue Raiders, coached by Andy Harvan, also receive a two-run double in the game from Tammy Smellowsky. Evans allows just three hits and ends with six strikeouts.
