State police at Schuylkill Haven reported investigating two crashes in the same area along Route 61 in Port Clinton, Schuylkill County, on Tuesday.
The first crash occurred at 6:23 a.m. as Alyssa J. Machmer, 22, of Mohrsville, Berks County, was driving a 2015 Nissan Rogue northbound when the vehicle left the right side of the road and struck an embankment. After impact the Rogue flipped onto the driver’s side and came to rest in the middle of the northbound lanes. Machmer was not injured. She was cited for the crash.
The second crash occurred at 6:32 a.m. in the northbound lanes. Troopers said a 17-year-old male from Wyomissing, Berks County, encountered traffic that was slowed because of the first crash. He abruptly stopped his 2004 Audi A4. The Audi was struck in the rear by a 2017 Ford Explorer driven by Gloria R. Skawinsky, 67, of Auburn. Troopers said Skawinsky could not stop in time to avoid the collision.
No one was injured in that crash. Skawinsky was cited for following too closely.
