Local Roundup: Results from April 20

Marian’s Emma McClafferty and Tamaqua’s Caitlin Smith both earned second-place finishes at Shippensburg’s 93rd Jake Roddick Invitational on Saturday.

McClafferty took second in the discus with a throw of 124-11, while Smith was runner-up in the 100 in a time of 12.84.

The Tamaqua girls also had two of its relay teams place second. The 400 relay team ran a 52.71, while the 3200 relay squad came in at 9:59.96.

Frances Kabana turned in a third-place effort in the 2000 steeplechase, while Emily Titus was also third in the javelin.

Fourth-place finishes were turned in by McClafferty (shot out), and Tamaqua’s Sarah Maue (1600) and Brianna Dumond (2000 steeplechase).

Athletes from 107 different schools participated in the event.
