Coroner: Local artist dies after work-related injury

BETHLEHEM (AP) — Authorities say a local artist died of an injury he sustained in mid-March while working at a popular entertainment venue in eastern Pennsylvania.

The Lehigh County coroner’s office says 43-year-old Jared Balogh died Monday evening at Lehigh Valley Hospital, Muhlenberg. Officials said an autopsy concluded the death was due to complications from an ankle fracture sustained after a section of stage platform fell onto his foot.

It was ruled an accidental work-related death stemming from the March 14 accident at the ArtsQuest Center at SteelStacks.

Balogh’s art work is displayed throughout The Alternative Gallery in Allentown, where he had a studio, according to the venue’s Facebook post informing the community about his death.

He also operated the sound equipment for many shows including performances during the annual Allentown ArtsFest event.
