The Jim Thorpe baseball and Marian softball teams won in dramatic fashion on Tuesday.
Tamaqua and Panther Valley also picked up softball victories.
In tennis action, Pleasant Valley swept Allen.
BASEBALL
Pine Grove-Jim Thorpe
James Lordi blasted a walk-off home run to lift Jim Thorpe to an 11-10 victory over Pine Grove.
Lordi’s third hit of the game was the biggest for the Olympians. Lordi also had two singles, and finished with three runs scored and an RBI.
Jared Joyce chipped in with a three-hit performance, recording a double, two singles, a run scored and three RBIs.
Thorpe’s Colin Binder (single, double) and Jared Marykwas (two singles) also finished with multiple hits.

Tamaqua-Pottsville
Pottsville prevailed in a pitcher’s duel, coming away with a 2-0 Schuylkill League victory over Tamaqua.
The Blue Raiders’ Brayden Knoblauch pitched five innings of shutout ball, but it was two runs in the fifth inning that cost him the victory on the hill. Knoblauch fired six strikeouts and only allowed three walks in the loss.
Nick Breiner (double), Tate Ligenza and Joey Minehan accounted for Tamaqua’s three hits.

Western Wayne-Marian
Athena Matenkoski helped Marian rally for a 6-5 non-league win over Western Wayne.
Matenkoski was the offensive star for the Fillies, going 4-for-4 with two RBIs, including the game-winning single in the seventh with two outs.
Lyndsey Reinoehl struck out 10 and gave up three earned runs, while also going 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored as the Fillies scored two runs.
Jade Ritsick (2-for-3, double, two runs) and Emily Shaud (2-for-4, double, run) also contributed to the win.

Weatherly-Panther Valley
Panther Valley needed just five innings to post a 14-4 Schuylkill League win over Weatherly.
Megan Pascoe led the Panthers in the circle and at the plate. Pascoe earned the win, while also collecting two singles and two doubles in the batter’s box.
Brenna Beshock and Brianna Staehle both added a single and double for the Panthers.
Amanda Colecio recorded a triple for the Wreckers, while Ashley James added a double.

Blue Mountain’s Peightyn Schwartz tossed a no-hitter in a 5-0 Schuylkill League Division 1 win over Lehighton.
Schwartz also went 2-for-3 at the plate to help her cause, ripping an RBI triple in the first inning. In the circle, Schwartz struck out 12.
Alyssa Youst also had a big day at the dish for the Eagles, going 3-for-4 with a two-run triple in the seventh inning.

Pine Grove used hot-hitting and dominant pitching to roll past Jim Thorpe 17-0 in a Schuylkill League Division 1 contest.
Olivia Lehman and Megan Wolfe combined for eight strikeouts in the three-inning shutout. Katie Rittenbaugh starred at the plate, going 4-for-4 with five RBIs and three runs scored. Lehman and Trish Kopinetz (two doubles) both finished with three hits and three RBIs, while Avery Nagle added a home run and three RBIs.

Tamaqua erased an early deficit and battled back for a 7-2 win over Pottsville in a Schuylkill League Division 1 contest.
Jada Schellhammer was solid in the circle, striking out 12 batters and allowing one walk. Schellhammer also went 4-for-4 at the plate with a two-run homer and a run scored for the Raiders, who scored all of their runs over the final two innings.
Ally Frederick also had a strong day, going 2-for-3 with two RBIs and two runs scored.

Palisades swept Northern Lehigh in a Colonial League meet.
The Pirates earned a 112-38 win over the Bulldogs on the girls’ side, and recorded a 101-49 victory in boys’ action.
Preston Kemery (800, 1600) and Zachary Moyer (110H, high jump) had strong efforts on the boys’ side.
Raegan Pender (1600), Kristen Guelcher (300H), Hailey Evans (Shot Put), Josh Fritchman (Shot Put) and Evan Zambo (Javelin) all picked up victories for the Bulldogs in the girls’ meet.
